LUXURY BEACH HOTELS Coral Sea Resort
We stayed at the Coral Sea Resort in Airlie Beach for 8 nights in all. It was a one-bedroomed apartment and the views over the ocean were amazing! Our room was overlooking the ocean and not the pool area, which could be fortunate as early morning pool bathers could be a bit noisy.
The kitchen in the apartment had all the amenities we could want for. Our son slept on a roll away bed in the lounge area. Our balcony got the morning sun and we enjoyed sitting at the outdoor suite eating breakfast in the warmth. There was only one flat screen TV – in the lounge, a second TV in the bedroom would have been better. The bedroom had a queen size bed, a bit small for our liking. The bathroom was fully tiled and very clean with a large shower (no bath). The unit was serviced daily – it was great returning to a clean kitchen with dishes done. Toiletries were replenished daily.
We booked our day trip to Hamilton Island through the lady at the Resort who was very helpful. Blessed with 6 warm sunny days, our time at the Coral sea Resort was perfect. Personally I would recommend staying at Airlie Beach and visiting the Whitsundays from that base. Airlie Beach offers much more in the way of dining and shopping than the limited options on the islands.
All in all the Coral Sea Resort was great a great stay for us indeed. Its postion right on the water, whilst being a 5 minute walk into town along the boardwalk, made it ideal. Unlike many other places, there was no steep hill to negotiate. I will give the Resort full marks when it refurbishes the rooms – which are a bit dated as other reviewers have noted. However don’t let that fact stop you staying here. It really is a relaxing place with the most beautiful views – highly recommended.
